Feather Icons – A Beautiful, Minimalist and Free Icons Set

If you search around the web you’ll find tons of free icon sets tailor made for the web. These are incredibly useful for all types of websites because graphics always spruce up a layout.

It’s really hard to find free icon sets that match your design. Typically your best option is a minimalist icon set like Feather.

This new set is full of line icons with a clean design. The icons feel more like interface icons but they can work as feature-type icons on your homepage too.

Either way they’re all open source and totally free to use on any website.

You don’t need much knowledge of frontend coding to get these working. Yes you’ll need to spend some time in the code, but you shouldn’t struggle to get this running.

If you haven’t used icon fonts on the web then Feather is a great place to start.

Check out their newbies guide if you’re not sure what to do. It’ll walk you through everything to get your site up and running with these icons.

You do need to call an external JS file, something not very common among other icon sets. But if you don’t wanna use the webfonts then just download the SVG vectors and embed those.

In fact, the team even created a small CodePen template that you can copy/paste into your code. This is perfect for learning the basic codes and redesigning for your site without starting from scratch.

But if you’re big into coding check out the small API reference on their GitHub page. This lets you control icon styles and change vector formats with a few lines of JavaScript.

Keep in mind this icon set may not fit every site. It’s important to look over the Feather icons and decide for yourself if these minimalist designs can work for you.

Take a peek at their homepage to get a look at their entire collection. You’ll find a link to the main documentation on GitHub with all the steps needed to get this running.
