With WeTransfer, you don’t even need to register to start sharing your files. As mentioned before, it is easy to use, secure and maintains the original quality.
How does WeTransfer work?
WeTransfer is available on desktop as well as a mobile app. The procedure to send files is different on both as you can find in the following.
On desktop
- Simply go to the main site where you’ll find a white small box on the left of your screen.
- Click Add your files to choose the files you want to send.
- Fill in the email of receiver — you can add more one friends email.
- Write your own email address, write a message (optional), click Transfer and you are done!
As for the receiver, he/she will get a notification email as well as the download button to grab the files which are stored in WeTransfer server.
On mobile
- Download the app from Playstore (Android) or App Store (iOS).
- Once you installed WeTransfer, simply choose files from file explorer or photos/videos from gallery that you want to send.
- Use the share button and you’ll be prompted to fill the receiver’s email, your email, write a message and transfer.
Please note that the files you send will only last for a week in the server (unless you use the Pro version). Means, if the receiver doesn’t download it before that, the files will be deleted forever from the server. Well, if the worst happenes, you can ask the sender to upload it again.
Which file formats does it support?
You can send any file format, or should I say, everything! Also you need not worry if the file does not work after the receiver downloads it, because the original file will remain in the WeTransfer server for some time.
The size and receiver limitation?
On free version, WeTransfer allows you to send up to 2 GB per transfer. And the interesting thing is that you can send your files to 20 friends in one go. However, if that does not satisfy you, you can actually get more!
Yep, WeTransfer provides Plus service which lets you send up to 20 GB per transfer. The receiver’s number is also increased from 20 to 100! Neat, huh?
What else does Plus service offer?
Aside from the increasing amount of limiation above, you also get 100 GB free storage to use. Means that you can upload any files to store in the server without even sharing it to anybody. With Plus, you can modify your URL and customize the background of the app so it looks more personalized.
Moreover, in the Plus service you can decide the expiration date of the files uploaded. You can even make it last forever! One more thing, Plus lets you give a password to the transfered file so that it becomes more private between you and the receiver.
To get the Plus version, you only need to choose a payment plan, which is either 120 USD per year or 12 USD per month. And then, you have to fill in some personal details, such as email address and etc.
Which platforms does it support?
WeTransfer is available for web browser, Android and iOS platforms. And somehow, it doesn’t matter if you to use your email for both Android and iOS phone. The developers do a really great job to satisfy the users.
However, you should know that there is no native desktop version of WeTransfer available, so there is no integration for files or folder from your computer. Apart from that drawback, WeTransfer is actually a pretty cool online file transfer platform for both personal and business users.
